FLIR SYSTEMS, INC. has engineering and production facilities in Sweden
and the US and a long and proud history of supporting worldwide military
organisations' airborne, maritime and ground-based missions with a broad
spectrum of infrared and visual imaging systems from miniature handheld
infrared imagers for infantry to multi-sensing systems for airborne or maritime use.
With over 30,000 systems operating in 60 countries on five continents, FLIR offers an infrared solution for almost all missions including search and rescue, surveillance, reconnaissance, force protection, perimeter security, navigation and targeting. A vast line of commercially developed, militarily qualified (CDMQ) products ensures military planners they are procuring the most technologically advanced infrared equipment available at the most economical price.
Ground systems FLIR also offers a range of sensors designed for integration into advanced targeting and other electro-optical systems to provide protection, intelligence gathering and situational awareness. As more military operations are planned at night, individual and crew-served weapon platforms require a sighting system to acquire targets in complete and total darkness. FLIR's new SnipIR turns night into day for special operations personnel as well as law enforcement SWAT teams. MilCAM MIRV (miniature infrared viewer) raises the standard for high-performance palm-sized thermal imagers as the world's smallest high performance, long-range handheld infrared imager. Powered by a single lithium D-cell battery, weighing under 1.6kg with five hour battery and a long focal-length optic, the MIRV combines long standoff range performance with unmatched portability. The handheld, infrared MilCAM Recon operates at distances of 5km or more to see through adverse conditions. Used by multiple militaries, this compact imager delivers crisp, clear thermal images from very long distances. The ThermoVision Sentry is the perfect thermal imaging system for perimeter security and force protection. The Sentry delivers day and night surveillance and features a continuous 360o panning mechanism for wide area viewing and is used by USAF's Tactical Automated Security System (TASS).
ThermoVision Ranger provides military commanders with a mid-wave infrared option housed in an environmentally sealed housing that can be mounted on vehicles or a third party pan-and-tilt mechanism.
Maritime systems SeaFLIR, a new benchmark in maritime thermal imaging, is fully ruggedised for harsh maritime environments. Placed on a ship's wheelhouse or mast, the SeaFLIR offers different payload options to meet different mission requirements. Long-range infrared imaging capability can be complemented by a colour or low-light CCD camera to deliver day or night observation in all weather conditions. The SeaSTAR SAFIRE is the maritime equivalent of FLIR's popular Star SAFIRE airborne imager. Mounted on its side or inverted, SeaSTAR delivers unprecedented long range thermal sensitivity and gives the end-user many custom options, including spotter scope, autotracker, laser illuminator, rangefinder and daylight TV. Medium range navigation or harbour surveillance programmes are well served by the uncooled ThermoVision Sentry.
Airborne Systems The SAFIRE family of products, including the Star SAFIRE and Star SAFIRE II, can be found on fixed wing and rotary aircraft in all branches of the US military as well as in a host of international military organisations. These well proven systems, the standard in commercial off-the-shelf IR technology, provide enhanced thermal sensitivity and powerful optics for superior-range performance. The new BriteStar SAFIRE is an advanced laser designator/rangefinder mid-wave thermal imaging system for fixed and rotary wing attack aircraft. The new Star Q offers pioneering Gen-III long-wave infrared technology and employs the latest Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) technology for superior, long range viewing in a multi-sensor gimbal. Optimised for size, weight and wireless communications, the MicroSTAR, with high resolution infrared and visible light imaging, is ideal for UAV applications. Hundreds of police forces around the world depend on FLIR airborne and ground-imaging systems to enhance their mission capabilities. Several factors such as population growth and its demand on police resources, make law enforcement organisations look to FLIR airborne and ground imaging as a viable and cost effective method of improving public safety. Agencies deploying a FLIR imager can cover more area and reduce or redirect assets without compromising safety. In almost any situation, including surveillance, pursuits or search and rescue operations, airborne and ground based infrared systems allow law enforcement professionals to work smarter and faster around the clock.
The UltraForce II, featuring FLIR's new long wave Gen-III QWIP technology, offers unmatched infrared and TV performance in a highly stabilised multi-sensor product. An optional spotter scope or laser rangefinder can be added to this well proven crime fighting tool.
