The meeting place for those with land and land-air defence matters in mind is ready to welcome visitors to one of the world’s best venues.

Held under the patronage of the French Ministry of Defence, Eurosatory is the international shop window for land and land-air defence. From 17 to 21 June 2002 Eurosatory will be held at Paris-Nord Villepinte, the new unrivalled exhibition centre for world-class trading events.

All aspects of the defence industry will be exhibited from communications and computer applications to simulation and logistics. Alongside high-tech equipment there will be upgrading facilities for equipment still in service. More companies are exhibiting dual-purpose products (civil products adaptable for military use), and in response to international military deployments, Eurosatory increasingly reflects the requirements of crisis management, humanitarian aid and peace-keeping.

Eurosatory brings together major international manufacturers, small and medium-sized companies, sub-contractors, suppliers and service providers. In addition to this, a special area of Eurosatory focuses on sub-contracting and diversification opportunities for small companies with cost effective exhibiting facilities.

One of the key components of the exhibition is the free international business convention called Eurosat’Contacts. It offers hundreds of international manufacturers and suppliers the opportunity for meetings and contacts. Eurosat’Contacts arranges the meetings between major manufacturers and potential suppliers, finds partners for companies involved in new-product development, opens international markets to smaller companies and identifies new military and/or civil outlets for a company’s product range.

The Eurosatory Commissaire Général, Hugues Rostaing, said: “I want all our exhibitors to be aware of the opportunity Eurosatory offers for meetings and contacts. By using the Eurosat’Contacts system of pre-arranged and carefully targeted professional meetings, we simplify major manufacturers’ search for alternative technological solutions. Equally, we can help small and medium-sized companies to highlight their potential for co-operation and to draw attention to their specialised know-how, leading to new national and international outlets for their products.” Eurosat’Contacts is managed by Adhésion & Associés, the leading European business convention organiser.

The company uses a system of collecting requests or proposals from exhibitors to prepare a programme of meetings that brings together those who are looking for a solution and those who have one to offer. These meetings usually take place on an exhibitor’s stand, but an alternative meeting room also is available at the exhibition if required.

Hugues Duchaussoy, the manager of the DGA support office for technology, innovation and small and medium-sized companies, said: “The programme of pre-arranged meetings at Eurosat’Contacts enables prime contractors and suppliers to further their development strategies at one location and over a short period of time.”

To ensure that all the commercial discussions are productive, companies involved in Eurosat’Contacts are represented at a decision-making level, for example, production, technical or R&D managers. Equally, Eurosat’Contacts welcomes representatives from major manufacturers and prime contractors. For them, Adhésion & Associés can arrange same-day meetings with exhibitors.

In 2000, Eurosat’Contacts arranged around 4000 meetings, and 95 per cent of them were pre-planned, involving more than 320 senior company representatives. It also welcomed 113 official foreign delegations, comprising 500 political and military authorities and almost 40,000 professional visitors from 126 foreign countries.
