The Kurganmashzavod Joint Stock Company (JSC Kurganmashzavod) is now among the very top flight of leading producers of armoured infantry-fighting vehicles in the Russian Federation. The company was founded in 1954 and began its operations by manufacturing a range of artillery tractors, and in so doing developed a unique understanding of the demands of the design and production of infantry combat vehicles. In 1967 the company began designing and producing infantry combat vehicles that have now become the company's most important and well-known product.
The company produces a wide range of armoured fighting vehicles in numerous configurations that will perform equally well in all combat conditions, terrains and climates. The product line includes the world famous BMP-2 and BMP-3 combat vehicles, the BMP-3 based multi-purpose chassis and the BREM-L armoured recovery vehicle.
The BMP-3 AIFV made its international debut at IDEX four years ago. It attracted massive interest due to its heavy armament package, high mobility and protection capabilities. A new departure in Russian AIFV design, it forms the basis of a family of vehicles that includes dedicated reconnaissance variants, a command vehicle, an anti-tank missile carrier; a self-propelled artillery system and an armoured repair and recovery vehicle.
The company has developed its crew training service to an extremely comprehensive and expert level. This and the equally well-established vehicle-maintenance services have been utilised to the full by 24 foreign users in four continents.
