The Vostok story begins in 1942
when one of the Moscow watch-making plants was evacuated from Moscow to a little town
located on the Kama River. Defence equipment was the only company output during the war
years, but as soon as the war was over it began making mechanical wristwatches that has
remained its main product ever since. The company never completely severed its military
past and was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defence Ministry of the
Soviet Union in 1965. This year marks the creation of the world-famous Komandirskie
(Commander) watch. Military watches have become very popular even among people who are
unaware which end of the gun a bullet comes from, mainly be cause of their high-precision,
unparalleled reliability and durability. Appearance also contributes to their appeal.

army watch was the foundation of the next special watch that was called the Amphibian.
